A Wild Getaway: Gotland Edition
There’s something magical about Gotland — the Baltic Sea island with its dramatic coastline and endless ocean light. It’s a place that’s shaped our brand and stolen our hearts, time and time again.
Craving that energy and salty breeze, we packed our bags and brought along our German friends — Svea, Wiebke, Franziska, Daniela, and Swannie — to share our little slice of paradise.

We spent three days enjoying guided tours of local farms and restaurants, horse riding on the beach, scenic hikes on the limestone cliffs, good food, and even better company.
Here’s a list of the beautiful places we visited, so if you ever plan an outdoorsy trip to this favorite island of ours in the Baltic Sea, this is your compass!
How to get there
Take the ferry with Destination Gotland! The journey starts on the ferry – being surrounded by the open ocean and salty air sets the mood for an island stay.
Views
Högklint. Our favorite viewpoint to stop at after rolling off the ferry – a place to pause, inhale the fresh Gotland air, and take in the green and blue ocean views.

Hikes
Klintkustleden. One of Sweden’s most beautiful coastal hikes, offering a mix of dramatic cliffs, forests, fishing villages, and several viewpoints overlooking the sea.
You can walk the entire trail (30 km) or choose a shorter section that suits your interest or schedule. We started just north of Lickershamn for a cozy lunch hike and finished in Ireviken.

Horse Riding
Stelor: We visited a charming, family-run countryside restaurant in Västergarn, one of Gotland’s most idyllic spots. They invited us for afternoon coffee by the sea – and even brought their horses so we could fulfill a bucket list dream: riding on the beach!

Eat
Sibbjäns serves farm-to-fork gastronomy. The dishes are made with the freshest seasonal ingredients, many of them harvested straight from their own gardens. The menu is a celebration of the Gotland landscape and its flavors, featuring local cheeses, beverages, and produce from nearby farms and artisans. We loved every bit!

Stelor: We enjoyed some amazing pizza made in a firewood oven, topped with fresh vegetables from Gotlandic farmers, focused on ecology and sustainability.

Grå Gåsen: A personal boutique hotel in the heart of southern Gotland. We love the combination of stylish design, Gotlandic charm, and a warm, relaxed atmosphere – perfect for those looking for memorable accommodation near the sea.

Villa Saltham: A characterful villa with original 1970s interiors – a place that made us feel like a part of a wild movie scene. Here, nostalgia meets comfort, with newly renovated bathrooms, several social areas, and breathtaking sea views. We also enjoyed some magical food served in the greenhouse nearby.

Thanks to everyone who made this trip possible and our guests who brought the best energy and great vibes along!
