Sustainability OLD
Sustainability is a mindset that guides all of our decision making, from the products we launch to the materials we use and the people and partners we work with. Love for nature is the reason for Astrid Wild’s existence, and we want to do our utmost to preserve it. We commit to continuously learn, adapt, innovate and simply become better in making responsible choices. If you have any ideas or thoughts on how to improve, please don’t hesitate contacting us at info@astridwild.com.
A few things we’ve done so far:
- We’ve chosen to produce our clothing in Europe, right now in Lithuania and Latvia to minimize transportation and to make sure the factories follow European laws and policies regarding Labour relations practices.
- Some of our fabrics, like the merino wool and the pants, is produced locally here in Sweden
- We don’t have seasonal collections, rather we design timeless clothing that should be loved and used for years
- We produce small batches at a time to make sure we only produce what our customers demand, and avoid waste
- We do not pack our garments in individual plastic bags and we use recycled paper bags when sending to you
- We strive to work as much as possible with natural fibers like wool, and recycled poly materials.
- We are continuously seeking materials that best combine functionality with low environmental footprint.
- We reuse scrap fabric as much as possible, for example to create accessories, to diminish the amount of fabric waste.
- We use only RWS-certified and mulesing-free wool in our merino products.
Our factories
We aim to find the best possible partners to work with for each garment we produce, and create long-lasting partnerships. We want to streamline sourcing geographically and have materials and production close to each other to avoid unnecessary transportation from one corner of the world to another.
Our products are currently manufactured in the Baltics, Lithuania and Latvia.
In Lithuania we’re working with two high-quality factories specialising in the types of products in questions.
Our pants and shorts are manufactured by UAB Tindra and the Minna Wool Fleece products and Rosa Hiking Tights products are manufactured by UAB Tebesa.
In Latvia we’re producing all merino wool products with a factory owned and operated by the Swedish knitting company, Marbäck Tricot.
All fabric suppliers are listed for each product, see “Material & Care”.
Reuse and repair
Our aim is to make products that last for years to come, for our customers to pass on or resell to new users. If you, down the line, for a reason or another, feel that you don’t need the garment any longer, please contact us so we can help you recycle or resell the products.
In addition, we are happy to help you with any questions regarding repairs or if you need extra items for your product, such as buttons. Please contact support@astridwild.com.
